Job Overview

The Center for Functional and Molecular Imaging (CFMI) is actively developing a research program utilizing a number of imaging techniques. This position will involve working with investigators on extending current fMRI acquisition and analysis techniques as well as carrying out research. This position has two principal components: running the 3.0T MRI scanner and carrying out the research studies underway in the lab. The primary responsibilities of the scanning component of the role includes running the 3.0T MRI scanner after being trained; ensuring the safety of those being scanned; working with users in terms of scheduling scan sessions and ensuring that users understand MR safety adequately. Additional responsibilities include assisting in the execution of their neuroimaging experiments; managing data transfer; providing help and support such as technological troubleshooting; and performing analysis and quality control of data collected for various projects. The primary responsibilities related to working on the research studies include unsupervised collection of MRI, primary responsibility for data organization, processing, analysis; and assisting with data interpretation including manuscript preparation. In addition, this occupant of this position will need to have strong technical skills to implement quality control procedures. Both components of this position require working with people, including sensitive populations: neurodivergent individuals, Alzheimer’s disease patients, patients that have had a stroke, individuals with autism spectrum disorder and children.

Additional Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To

  • Responsible for the operation of the MRI scanner for a variety of research studies.
  • Rsponsible for assisting with data analysis of various types of MRI data.
  • Responsible for conducting quality control measures.

Work Interactions

The success of the CFMI completely depends on the individual(s) in this position being able to operate this complicated MRI scanner, working with researchers from other labs, assisting them when they encounter problems, and making sure the wide-range of participants being scanned feel comfortable. Thus, a combination of highly technical and inter-personal skills is required.

Requirements And Qualifications

  • The person occupying this position is required to have a B.A. or equivalent
  • One year of experience working in a research lab is preferred.
  • A degree in relevant fields such as psychology, neuroscience, computer science, or biomedical engineering is preferred

Pay Range

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$17.95 - $26.84

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
