Lab Manager for Department of Psychology - Georgetown College - Georgetown University
Georgetown's Department of Psychology is home to a diverse and collaborative community of scholars who conduct research in psychology, neuroscience, and public policy, and who teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. Research by Faculty in the Department of Psychology - from basic science investigations of behavior and brain function to applications for public policy - is directed at Georgetown University's goal of creating and communicating knowledge in the service of the common good.
The Lab Manager is involved in a range of functions pursuant to carrying out empirical research, analyzing data, grant applications and applying for approval for research by oversight bodies. They collect and process laboratory data and assist the laboratory Principal Investigator (PI) in the preparation of presentations and manuscripts; and coordinates the scheduling, budgeting activities, and administrative tasks for the laboratory; and may lead and direct the work of others - e.g., student volunteers. Reporting to the laboratory Principal Investigator, The Lab Manager has duties that include but are not limited to:
Schedule and recruit participants for ongoing research projects
Manage and supervise undergraduate students and graduate volunteers
Work closely with undergraduate students and graduate volunteers to follow deadlines to complete date collection, data analysis and present at conferences
Schedule and organize lab meetings and activities
Maintain and update the lab's website
Participate in hiring new employees, laboratory organization, schedule and administration
Collect data for ongoing research projects and organize data to prepare for analysis.
Maintain and Update the lab
Collect new student data for study participants
Work to prepare stimuli and rung subjects for empirical studies
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree
At least 1 year of experience working in psychology or neuroscience research laboratory
Quantitative abilities sufficient to complete preliminary data analysis
Human interaction skills for running subjects and excellent organizational skills.
The Lab Manager is a 2-year term year position ending on or about June 30, 2022.
