POSITION TITLE: Pavilion Fitness Instructor (Part-Time / Seasonal)

HOURLY RATE: $18.00 - $35.00
DEPARTMENT: Pavilion/Fitness
IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Recreation Manager
SUPERVISES: N/A
CHARACTERISTICS OF POSITION: Under the direction of the Recreation Manager, implements and designs the routine or workouts for fitness classes.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Essential: Participates and instructs fitness classes at high level. Monitors the participants. Ensure class environment is safe. Ensure patrons have proper instruction on safety and health hazards before the class or classes began. Develops fitness routines and adjust as necessary to anticipate participant needs. Maintains group fitness certifications for each program they instruct. Inform Recreation Manager or Manager on Duty of any facility issues. Inform Recreation Manager of any conflicts with schedule.
Nonessential: May be asked to teach other classes upon Recreation Managers request.
Qualifications:QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:
Education, Training, Experience: Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or GED certificate. Completion of group fitness certification. Must have at least one year of fitness class instruction and knowledgeable about current fitness trends and practices. Must have previous experience in teaching group fitness classes and obtain group fitness certifications. Must adhere to appropriate dress code.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge: Must have a detailed knowledge of principles and practices of facility rules, policies, and procedures.
Abilities: Able to maintain a working relationship with the Parks and Recreation Department. Ability to work with little to no supervision. Able to set up and take down class equipment used during the class. The allotted time is: 15 min on/ 15 min off.
SPECIAL LICENSING REQUIREMENTS: Must be certified in CPR and First Aid. Must have current certification of instructional classes.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Instructions: Inform Recreation Manager of any facility or equipment needs in a timely manner.
Processes: Able to keep up with changing fitness trends and implement new ideas.
Review of Work: Work will be reviewed by staff and class evaluation.
Analytical Requirements: Creativity and independent thinking is required. Work Environment: Inside with some outside classes.
Availability: Attend all scheduled classes. Must be on time for classes.
Physical Demands:
Lifting: Some required (up to 25 pounds). Requires standing, walking, and sitting.
Use of Equipment: Dumbbells, stretch bands, mats.
