POSITION: Board Certified Behavior Analyst LOCATION: Georgetown Public Schools SUPERVISOR: Director of Student Services ANNUAL SALARY: Salary and benefits per Georgetown Education Association contract. START DATE: August 31, 2026 WORK YEAR: 184 days, the school year & professional development days IDEAL CANDIDATE: The ideal candidate should: Be energetic, motivated individual to work with collaboratively with the grade level team members. Have a strong background in the content area Be passionate and enthusiastic educator who can motivate students to discover their creative potential. QUALIFICATIONS Experience working with students across several disability areas, including, but not limited to autism, specific learning disability, communication disability, intellectual impairment, hard of hearing, and emotional disability. Knowledge of Esped and IEP writing. Professional understanding of individual student learning styles. Ability to successfully collaborate with colleagues. Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are a must. POSITION DESCRIPTION & RESPONSIBILITES The Elementary Behavior Specialist for Georgetown Public Schools has the primary responsibility of assessing students with behavior concerns. Included in this is: 1. Collecting data on the students 2. Working with classroom teachers, special education teachers, counselors, psychologists, and the administration to devise behavior plans for students 3. Evaluating the effectiveness of developed plans The position is responsible for analyzing data to identify inappropriate behaviors, the planning, implementing and tracking of individual behavior plans, and identifying barriers to successful access to grade level curriculum. The Behavior Specialist provides leadership and direction at the school level, working to design, implement, coordinate, and evaluate a comprehensive behavior support program. In addition, the Behavior Specialist works directly with identified students to help them adopt behaviors that will substantially increase their academic performance. Under the supervision of the building principal, special education coordinator, and director of student services, the Behavior Specialist will provide diversified strategies and activities specifically designed for targeted students. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Collect and document information necessary to perform Functional Behavior Assessments on students with complex behavioral challenges 2. Develop behavior plans and specific intervention plans for students and assist in their implementation, including using appropriate resources and technology to promote development of critical thinking, problem solving, and pro-social behavior in students, working with students in classrooms to reach goals as determined by their educational plan, and conducting ongoing follow-up assessment/evaluation/observation of progress on the behavior plans. 3. Collect data regarding student behaviors and recommend appropriate instructional modifications to develop responsible thinking and decision-making skills in students. 4. Train both professional and support staff to implement Positive Behavior Intervention Plans. 5. Assist teachers in the identification and development of individualized behavior interventions intended to change behaviors, using evidence based strategies. 6. Maintain appropriate records for the purpose of continuous progress monitoring. 7. Provide training for Staff in data collection and documentation of various behavior interventions. 8. Participate as a member of educational teams to design, implement and oversee behavior interventions within the classroom and school. 9. Communicate with and engage parents in the implementation of behavioral interventions as appropriate. 10. Assist families and school staff in accessing community resources. 11. Provide support and informational workshops to parents. 12. Work directly with students in classroom and/or other environments, as necessary, to model behavior intervention strategies for staff. 13. Provide direct instruction to students in social skills and self regulation strategies. 14. Develop the skills and self-esteem necessary for identified students to exercise meaningful options in areas of school, leisure, and inter/intra personal relationships. Provide support to students who display impulsive behaviors, low self-esteem, and impaired social skills. 15. Provide recognition of a variety of student accomplishments and positive behaviors. 16. Collaborate with administrators and teachers to create classroom activities for Second Step (Social Emotional Curriculum). 17. Complete required paperwork in an accurate and timely manner. 18. Serve as a consultant to administrators, teachers, and parents . 19. Attend SAT Team as directed by building principal. OTHER DUITES 1. Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Director of Student Services, Building Principal, or other appropriate administrators. ASSESSMENT OF PERFORMANCE Assessment by the Principal or designee and Director of Special Education. JOB REQUIREMENTS Three to five years of classroom experience, elementary preferred MA DESE certification as an adjustment counselor, school psychologist, special education teacher, BCBA, or guidance counselor. Masters’ Degree preferred. SALARY & BENEFITS Per agreement between the Georgetown School Committee and Georgetown Education Association. Eligible for health insurance Contractual sick days and personal days
