Responsibilities
- Be familiar with and works to protect clients’ legal rights by encouraging the choice to express these rights.
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support.
- Works to fulfill clients’ needs through implementation of goals, behavior management, personal hygiene, oral hygiene, social adjustment, leisure and special activities.
- Monitor patient health by observing behavior, and reporting changes to healthcare teams.
- Administer medication following care plans and HIPAA regulations to ensure safety and compliance.
- Support clients during meal preparation, cooking, and feeding to promote nutrition and independence.
- Maintain cleanliness of living spaces through regular cleaning and organization to ensure a safe environment.
- Use specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s
to assist with transfers and mobility needs. - Document care activities accurately in accordance with facility policies and regulatory standards.
- Maintains accountability for all clients within assigned setting and demonstrates knowledge of client actions during that time frame.
- Engage clients in social activities and community outings to foster social interaction and mental stimulation.
- Follow established protocols for emergency response including CPR and first aid when necessary.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans tailored to each client’s needs.
Qualifications
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health environments is highly preferred.
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely and perform physically demanding tasks as needed.
- Strong communication skills with an empathetic approach to caregiving for individuals with disabilities or memory impairments.
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities, autism, or dementia enhances your ability to provide specialized support.
