Role Description This full-time, on-site Masonry Estimator role is based in Tallahassee, FL. The Masonry Estimator will review plans and specifications, perform detailed quantity takeoffs, and prepare accurate budgets and bids for structural CMU, load-bearing block, reinforced masonry systems, and architectural brick and stone veneer. Day-to-day responsibilities include analyzing project documents, coordinating with project managers and field supervisors, and communicating with general contractors and owners regarding scope, clarifications, and changes. The role involves assessing constructability, identifying risks, and proposing value-engineering options that align with company standards for safety, quality, and schedule. The Masonry Estimator will maintain organized bid documentation, support preconstruction planning, and contribute to continuous improvement of estimating processes and tools.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of masonry systems, including Masonry and Cement, with the ability to interpret drawings and specifications accurately.
- Experience with Brickwork and Stonework, particularly in commercial, institutional, or public projects.
- Background in Renovation or retrofit masonry work, including assessing existing conditions and planning scopes of work.
- Proficiency in construction estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital takeoff tools.
- Understanding of structural CMU, reinforced and fully grouted masonry systems, and concrete pumping coordination.
- Ability to read and analyze architectural, structural, and civil plans; strong math and measurement skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to raise issues clearly and early in the process.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines.
- Familiarity with commercial construction practices, safety standards, and preconstruction workflows.
- Relevant experience in masonry estimating; formal training or education in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred.
