The Quality Control Laboratory Technician will be responsible for Testing production materials, prepares samples and conduct routine and special laboratory testing to ensure conformance with National and local DOT standards on all Construction materials. The technician performs trouble shooting for problem jobs and maintains accurate and timely records on all technical data. Technician will be required to inspect, test, and perform Quality Control function at any George Reed Inc HMA satellite lab facility and The George Reed Inc Regional lab facility.
Essential Functions
- Performs quality control testing at designated facility and George Reed Inc Regional Lab.
- Performs routine testing associated with plant HMA Verification, production startups and special testing projects.
- Produces and maintain accurate and timely data for all production facilities.
- Perform testing of all raw materials associated with the production of hot mix or aggregates used in hot mix.
- Daily input of data into AGGQC and ACQC for all data produced during testing.
- Performs essential HMA and AGG testing for simi annual AASHTO Accreditation.
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and weekends
- Travel and overnight assignments maybe required.
Job Requirements
- Preferred minimum of three years experience testing construction materials, and/or plant inspection.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
- Must have excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
- Proven leadership qualities.
- Must possess the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects utilizing organizational skills and communication skills.
- Strong sense of responsibility regarding timely and accurate completion of work, and a strong commitment to corporate goals.
- Must be capable of functioning in fast paced demanding working environment.
- Caltrans certification (JTCP) Agg & Soil, HMA I and HMA II, or equivalent work experience.
- Knowledge of Asphalt Institute MS-2
- Familiar with AASHTO R18 and Accreditation policies.
- Associates Degree or equivalent from four-year college or university; and/or related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferable in Quality Control or construction materials testing.
- Preferred three years experience in materials QC construction, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Three years experience in a construction environment.
