What are the responsibilities and job description for the Underground Utilities Pipe Foreman position at George Nice & Sons?
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinates and supervises daily activities of a 2 – 8 person crew.
- Oversees utilization of heavy equipment to excavate, install and backfill drainage pipe.
- Oversees installation of of various types of pipe such as storm, sewer, and waterlines
- Sequences pipe installation to minimize interference with other project activities and the public.
- Continually inspects work site, surveying for potential hazards or safety concerns.
- Responsible for crew safety. Establishes safe work environment that complies with the Company safety program.
- Observes assigned equipment to detect machinery malfunctions. Assures the proper operation and maintenance of equipment.
- Analyzes job cost reports to ensure production is within budget.
- Reviews and approves employee time reporting.
- Maintains professional relationship with Owner.
Submit daily work report to include time, attendance, equipment used as well as materials received and installed
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Monitor and manage employee attendance, materials and subs on site.
Delegate tasks and accountabilities, instruct, supervise, lead and direct crew.
Liaise with the Human Resource department on a variety of employee-related issues, including employee development, recruitment, benefits, training, terminations, and investigations.
Other Employee Supervision duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Read plans
Leadership skills
Knowledge of OSHA requirements
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum 5 to 7 years’ experience as a Foreman within the industry
Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience as an Operator of Heavy Equipment.
GED or High school diploma
Thorough knowledge of methods, materials, and the use of equipment in pipe installation
