Legal Secretary — Full-Time
George Harwood Attorney at Law is a well-established single-attorney law firm serving the Amarillo community for more than forty years. The practice focuses on family, criminal, and probate law and is seeking an experienced, dependable Legal Secretary to provide direct support to Mr. Harwood and help keep the office running smoothly.
This full-time role is a strong fit for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable working with confidential client matters, and able to manage competing priorities in a busy legal environment. Bilingual ability is a plus.
Key Responsibilities
· Document Management: Prepare, format, proofread, and organize routine legal documents in Microsoft Word, including divorce petitions, probate proceedings, temporary orders, criminal motions, and correspondence.
· Administrative Operations: Manage incoming calls, welcome clients, maintain physical and digital case files, monitor Mr. Harwood’s email and calendar, and coordinate client appointments and court hearings.
· Court Coordination: Communicate with local court coordinators and complete digital court filings in accordance with applicable Texas judicial procedures.
Position Requirements
· Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
· Legal Experience: Prior experience supporting a Texas law firm, particularly in family law or criminal law matters, is highly preferred.
· Legal Research Tools: Familiarity with Westlaw Form Builder is a strong plus.
· Professional Strengths: Strong attention to detail, discretion with confidential information, and a calm, professional approach when assisting clients during stressful situations.
Hours, Compensation & Benefits
· Schedule: Full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.
· Compensation: Pay is negotiable and based on direct legal secretary experience.
· Benefits: Paid Time Off (PTO) accumulation program.
