What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Manager position at Georg Fischer?
Your tasks
- Oversees purchasing of raw materials, equipment, office/MRO supplies and services based on production/business needs and follow up to expedite/ de-expedite as required to support demand forecasts.
- Process new or revised purchase orders to suppliers in consideration of, but not limited to, current demand forecasting, lead times, minimum order quantities, tiered discounts, etc.
- Responsible for actively developing and executing purchasing strategies while ensuring inventory and costing targets are met at each site.
- Provide insights and make recommendations regarding quantitative and qualitative developments such as prices of raw materials that enables senior management to determine or adjust the procurement strategy.
- Manage, execute, maintain and/or improve procurement administrative processes and systems: use of purchase orders, approval limits, procurement policies, etc.
- Evaluate and maintain suppliers on a continuous basis and track trends.
- Perform cost analysis and set appropriate benchmarks; track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness; prepare monthly/quarterly/annual procurement reports and present findings and reports to leadership.
- Provides input on risk mitigation, business continuity, cost management and operation strategies.
- Manages supplier qualification and onboarding.
Your profile
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent; or experience in lieu of education.
- 7 years of related raw materials purchasing experience.
- 5 years of experience in raw materials purchasing in a manufacturing environment.

- Minimum 2 years leadership/management experience.
- Proficiency in Microsoft applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Knowledge of ERP/MRP with SAP.
- Ability to analyze and reconcile material issues.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in work.
- Demonstrate good organizational skills and follow-up techniques.
- Ability to multi-task.
- APICS certification or equivalent advantageous.
