What are the responsibilities and job description for the Controller position at GEORG FISCHER?

Manage period-end closing processes and ensure accuracy of all General Ledger accounts.

Lead cost accounting operations, including production cost tracking, variance analysis, and product family cost reporting.

Drive proactive cost control initiatives to improve profitability and support pricing decisions.

Oversee preparation and filing of Sales & Use tax and Property tax returns across multiple states.

Coordinate and support external financial, sales tax, property tax, and internal audits, ensuring accurate and timely responses.

Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, and depreciation using FAS 100 and SAP.

Provide financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting to support business planning and strategic initiatives.

Perform additional responsibilities and special projects as assigned by management

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA, CMA, or MBA strongly preferred.

Minimum of 8 years of progressive accounting/finance experience, with at least 5 years in a manufacturing environment.

Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, GAAP, and financial reporting requirements.

Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, macros); SAP or other ERP system experience required.

Demonstrated ability to analyze complex financial data, identify trends, and provide actionable insights.

Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills with a proven ability to partner across departments.

High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
