Job Title: Construction Technician (CAD)
GeoPoint is a land surveying company with multiple locations, specializing in land development, geomatics, geospatial mapping, commercial surveys, and subsurface utility engineering.
Summary/Objective:
The Construction Technician is responsible for performing advanced technical tasks and providing skilled support in various construction projects. This role requires a high level of expertise in construction techniques, equipment operation, and project management. The Technician will work closely with project managers, engineers, and other construction professionals to ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to specifications.
Essential Job Functions:
- Lead CAD production for complex surveying and construction projects.
- Oversee and implement company CAD standards and ensure compliance across projects.
- Review and approve final CAD deliverables before submittal.
- Coordinate with surveyors, engineers, and clients for scope, expectations, and corrections.
- Provide technical guidance and training to Level I and II technicians.
- Develop custom tools, templates, or workflows to improve CAD efficiency.
- Assist in project planning, resource allocation, and quality control processes.
Qualifications:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of CAD drafting experience in land surveying/construction.
- Expert proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D, including advanced features.
- Strong understanding of construction workflows, surveying principles, and field data processing.
- Ability to lead CAD design efforts and mentor junior staff.
- Familiarity with local regulations, DOT standards, and client CAD requirements.
- Excellent communication and project coordination skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment:
- Regularly engage in sitting, standing, or walking activities.
- Occasionally handle lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling items of varying weights.
- Perform reaching, kneeling, crouching, bending, or twisting motions as needed.
- Other physical requirements may arise depending on job tasks.
- Work may be conducted at a desk or workstation situated in confined areas.
- Experience moderate levels of noise indoors or outdoors.
- Flexibility to work overtime and occasional weekends as required.
