Job Title: Geospatial Project Manager (non-licensed)

GeoPoint is a land surveying company with multiple locations, specializing in land development, geomatics, geospatial mapping, commercial surveys, and subsurface utility engineering.

Summary/Objective:

The Geospatial Project Manager (non-licensed) will focus on leveraging geospatial technologies to deliver innovative solutions. Adept at managing the end-to-end lifecycle of projects, including proposals, client relationships, budgeting, and timely delivery, while driving business growth and revenue. Committed to fostering collaboration, exceeding client expectations, and identifying new opportunities to expand geospatial services and impact.

Essential Job Functions:

System Operation and Maintenance:

  • Operate and maintain LiDAR systems and related equipment to support efficient field data collection.
  • Schedule and manage equipment updates, maintenance, and recalibration in line with manufacturer requirements to ensure optimal performance.
  • Train team members on effective use of new and existing equipment, ensuring comfort and proficiency.

Field Data Collection:

  • Conduct field surveys to collect high-quality LiDAR data across diverse terrains and environments.
  • Ensure proficiency in data acquisition on all required platforms, guaranteeing proper setup and execution of field operations.
  • Coordinate with field personnel to manage control setups, including Ground Control Points (GCPs) and check shots, before and after data acquisition.
  • Collaborate with the remote sensing team to schedule and execute data collection.
  • Address any gaps in data collection by working with field teams to ensure comprehensive deliverables for clients.
  • Schedule and manage all data collection to meet project deadlines effectively.
  • Train new employees in data collection processes, offering ongoing guidance for continuous improvement.
  • Communicate regularly with Project Managers (PMs) to align with project needs and ensure timely execution.

Data Processing and Analysis:

  • Process various LiDAR datasets (both kinematic and static) to meet accuracy and quality standards.
  • Collaborate with the geospatial technology team to ensure accurate processing and point cloud/orthophoto extraction.
  • Conduct thorough quality control (QC) checks on all deliverables from the geospatial department to ensure accuracy and completeness.

Methodology Development:

  • Develop and implement customized data collection methodologies tailored to project-specific requirements.
  • Ensure consistency in adhering to standards and best practices for data collection and analysis.

Troubleshooting:

  • Identify and resolve technical issues related to LiDAR hardware, software, and data inconsistencies to maintain smooth project workflows and minimize delays.

Reporting and Visualization:

  • Generate detailed reports and visualizations of processed LiDAR data to present findings and insights to clients.
  • Clearly communicate data outputs to both technical and non-technical audiences, ensuring comprehension and engagement.

Bid Management:

  • Coordinate and oversee the preparation of competitive and compelling bids and proposals, ensuring alignment with client requirements and organizational goals.

Project Execution:

  • Manage and deliver geospatial projects on time and within budget, ensuring quality standards and client satisfaction.

Proposal Development:

  • Collaborate with technical teams to design innovative solutions, draft detailed project proposals, and respond to RFPs with tailored strategies.

Client Engagement & Billing:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, fostering strong relationships, managing communication, and ensuring accurate and timely client billing.

Business Development:

  • Identify new business opportunities, nurture client relationships, and actively pursue avenues to expand the organization's geospatial service offerings.

Revenue Generation:

  • Develop strategies to maximize revenue through efficient project management, up-selling additional services, and identifying cross-functional opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Geospatial Science, Remote Sensing, Geography, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Extensive experience with LiDAR systems, field data collection, and geospatial data processing.
  • Strong understanding of Ground Control Points (GCPs), kinematic/static LiDAR data, and QC methodologies.
  • Proficiency in geospatial software (e.g., GIS platforms, LiDAR processing tools).
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot technical issues and resolve them efficiently.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience training and mentoring team members on technical processes and equipment usage.
  • Ability to work in diverse environments and travel to field locations as required.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Regularly engage in sitting, standing, or walking activities.
  • Occasionally handle lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling items of varying weights.
  • Perform reaching, kneeling, crouching, bending, or twisting motions as needed.
  • Other physical requirements may arise depending on job tasks.
  • Work may be conducted at a desk or workstation situated in confined areas.
  • Experience moderate levels of noise indoors and outdoors.
  • Flexibility to work overtime and occasional weekends as required.
  • Ability to thrive in both team-oriented settings and independently, demonstrating self-motivation and initiative.

Safety Responsibility:

  • Adhere to all company and regulatory safety standards and procedures.
  • Identify potential safety hazards and take appropriate corrective actions.
  • Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe conditions in a timely manner.
  • Participate in safety training and promote a culture of workplace safety.

Travel:

  • Some travel may be required.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
