Job Summary
The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is a key part of the Human Resources department, supporting Geonerco Management in providing management services to its builder companies (Harbour Homes, Riverside Homes, and Alpine Homes). This role serves as a key resource for employees regarding payroll and benefit-related questions. The ideal candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, confidential, and understands the intersectionality of HR and Accounting, including the importance of accurate payroll processing, benefits administration, invoice coding, and financial reconciliation.
Responsibilities
- Process bi-weekly payroll for multiple entities, including funding allocations, hourly/salary employees, deductions, and accounting journal entries
- Ensure accurate payroll processing in compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws
- Process and reconcile HR-related invoices and coordinate payment submissions with accounting and benefits vendors
- Assist with payroll-related audits and reporting
- Serve as the primary point of contact for employee questions regarding payroll, benefits, and policies, in a professional and timely manner
- Administer employee benefit enrollments, changes, terminations, and qualifying life events
- Coordinate and assist with annual open enrollment processes and employee benefit communications
- On/Offboard employees in employee portals and electronic personnel files
- Maintain HRIS systems, benefit portals, and electronic personnel files with a high degree of accuracy and confidentiality
- Maintain and audit employee certification, licensing, and compliance tracking systems
- Assist with workers’ compensation administration, unemployment claims, and leave administration as needed
- Prepare and submit quarterly and annual payroll and benefits reporting to federal and state agencies
- Support annual audits, compliance testing, and year-end payroll processes, including W-2 preparation and reconciliation
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased efficiency within payroll and HR administration functions
- Perform other duties and special projects as assigned
