Geodesicx has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Controller (PC) to join our Project Management Office (PMO). As a PC within the project management office (PMO), you will hold a pivotal role that extends across budgeting, financial monitoring, analysis, recommendations, and training within the context of the company's projects. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial management, experience with budgeting, and the ability to work closely with key stakeholders (i.e., company executives, project customers, and internal teammates).

 

Scope of Responsibilities:

  • Develop and manage comprehensive project budgets, incorporating all costs and expected expenditures.
  • Work with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure budgets align with project scopes and objectives.
  • Implement budgeting controls and procedures to ensure adherence to financial plans.
  • Regularly monitor project expenses and compare them against the budget, identifying variances and potential issues.
  • Prepare detailed financial reports for internal stakeholders, highlighting the current financial status of projects.
  • Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, risks, and opportunities within project finances.
  • Provide actionable recommendations to improve financial performance, efficiency, and cost control on projects.
  • Assist in the financial evaluation of project proposals, forecasting future financial needs and potential returns.
  • Gain a comprehensive understanding of all functions within the PMO, including project management, procurement, risk management, and quality assurance.
  • Work collaboratively with other PMO members to ensure a holistic approach to project management and financial oversight.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings and initiatives to contribute financial insights and perspectives.
  • Develop training materials and programs tailored to enhancing the financial management skills of junior PCs and other PMO members.
  • Mentor junior PCs, providing guidance on best practices in budgeting, financial monitoring, and analysis.
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing sessions to disseminate financial management techniques and insights across the PMO. 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business or technical field AND Ten (10) years of experience in engineering/science management, operations research analysis or financial/cost analysis. Experience shall include collection, review, and analysis of information in order to make recommendations to stakeholders. Analyze relevant data, which may include annual revenues, employment, or expenditures. Interview managers and employees while observing their operations. Develop solutions to problems. In the course of preparing recommendations, understand the nature of the organization, the relationship it has with others in the Government, and its internal organization and culture. Prepare and solve mathematical models.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills. Proficiency in other financials applications is a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to articulate financial strategies and risks to non-financial stakeholders.

 Desired Qualifications:

  • Active DoD SECRET clearance or ability to obtain one. 
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in financial management, with at least 2-4 years working with various government appropriations for the Department of Defense.
  • Experience working with Business Intelligence tools to design dashboards, reporting solutions, and data integration.
  • Experience with the JAMIS accounting system.
  • Experience supporting procurement for contracts.
