Position Summary
The Lab Chemist receives, prepares, and tests oilfield samples such as produced water, solids, corrosion products, and other materials. This position provides accurate test results to support field operations while following all safety and quality standards.
Essential Functions
Collect, prepare, and analyze oilfield samples, including produced water, solids, corrosion products, mill scale, scale, and other materials. Perform chemical testing using laboratory equipment, including ICP, GC-MS, FTIR, and other wet chemical analysis.
· Conduct corrosion, scale, and production chemistry testing, including corrosion coupon analysis and failure investigations.
· Review test results, prepare reports, and communicate findings to operations and customers.
· Help identify production chemistry issues and provide recommendations based on laboratory results.
· Operate, calibrate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment.
· Follow laboratory quality procedures and accurately document test results.
· Follow all laboratory safety procedures, including proper chemical handling, PPE, and hazardous waste disposal.
· Help improve laboratory testing methods and procedures.
· Keep the laboratory clean, organized, and stocked with supplies.
Qualifications
· Bachelor’s degree in chemistry or a related science field required.
· 1–5 years of laboratory experience preferred.
· Experience using laboratory equipment such as ICP, GC-MS, FTIR, or similar instruments preferred.
· Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills.
· Ability to interpret test results and prepare reports.
· Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects.
· Experience is preferred but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.
Physical Requirements
· Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally.
· Ability to stand for extended periods.
· Ability to work with chemicals, laboratory equipment, and glassware.
· Must wear required personal protective equipment (PPE).
Additional Requirements
· Follow all company safety, OSHA, and environmental regulations.
· Follow laboratory chemical hygiene and hazardous waste procedures.
· Pass a pre-employment drug screen.
· Maintain confidentiality of laboratory results and company information.
· Must be authorized to work in the United States.
