Are you hands-on, detail-oriented, and interested in helping build the foundations of our communities? Join Geo-Technology Associates, Inc. (GTA) as a Soil & Concrete Laboratory Technician in our Construction Observation & Testing Division!
In this role, you’ll work closely with our Lab Manager and field teams to perform a variety of laboratory tests that ensure the quality and integrity of soil, concrete, and construction materials used in real-world projects.
Laboratory Technician Responsibilities
- Perform data entry, record keeping, and test reporting with accuracy.
- Learn and apply ASTM, AASHTO, and other industry-standard test procedures.
- Conduct lab tests on construction materials, including:
- Standard & Modified Proctors
- Sieve analyses
- Plasticity index tests
- Soil classification
- Prep and test concrete cylinders, cores, and masonry for compressive strength.
- Break cylinders, prisms, and cubes of concrete and masonry to evaluate performance.
- Maintain and calibrate lab and field equipment.
- Perform calculations and assist with data checks under the supervision of the Lab Supervisor.
Laboratory Technician Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver’s license and good driving record
- Eagerness to learn and achieve certifications within 90 days of hire
- Reliable, punctual, and team-oriented
- Comfortable lifting 50 lbs regularly
- Basic math and computer skills
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
