Responsibilities
Role and Responsibilities
As an Academic Instructor with us, you will be teaching in a classroom environment to provide diverse students with adult basic education, English language development, special education, and basic subjects including reading, mathematics, and language arts.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides classroom instruction in the areas of basic education subjects including career planning, social adjustment, and general life skills information.
- May instruct conversational English, and ideas and customs in English to students with limited English proficiency.
- Maintains records including testing, daily inmate/detainee work, attendance and general record keeping.
- Evaluates and maintains inmate/detainee academic progress.
- Provides individual tutoring.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university required.
- Possess or be eligible to apply for a State of Florida Educator's certificate. (Non-Certified applicants must obtain a State or Florida Educator's Certificate within twelve (12) months of hire.)
- Two (2) years of relevant teaching experience preferred.
- NOTE for Veterans/spouses ONLY: If applicant is a Veteran or a Veteran's spouse (in Florida), they can apply and receive a Temporary License if they meet the following:
- Minimum of forty-eight (48) months of military service with an honorable/medical discharge.
- Minimum of sixty (60) college credits with a 2.5 grade point average.
- Passing score on a Florida subject area examination.
