Title: Plant Controller
Position Summary
The Plant Controller is a key financial leader responsible for managing all accounting, costing, and financial analysis activities for the manufacturing plant. This role partners closely with plant leadership to drive financial performance, cost control, operational efficiency, and compliance with corporate policies and GAAP. The Plant Controller provides accurate, timely financial information to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee all plant-level accounting activities including general ledger, month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations
- Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements, forecasts, and variance analyses
- Ensure accurate reporting of inventory, cost of goods sold (COGS), and manufacturing variances
- Maintain strong internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies
Cost Accounting & Analysis
- Lead standard cost development, maintenance, and updates
- Analyze material, labor, and overhead variances; identify root causes and corrective actions
- Partner with operations to drive cost reduction initiatives and improve plant profitability
- Support product costing, pricing decisions, and margin analysis
Budgeting & Forecasting
- Lead the annual plant budget and periodic forecasts
- Track actual performance against budget and provide actionable insights to leadership
- Support capital expenditure planning, ROI analysis, and post-investment reviews
Operational Partnership
- Serve as a financial business partner to Plant Manager and operations leadership
- Provide financial guidance on production efficiency, labor utilization, scrap, and throughput
- Support continuous improvement, lean manufacturing, and operational excellence initiatives
Inventory & Controls
- Oversee inventory accounting, cycle counts, and physical inventories
- Ensure accuracy of inventory valuation and reserves
- Strengthen processes to minimize inventory discrepancies and obsolescence
Salary : $150,000 - $200,000
