MEP Superintendent

Our client, a general contractor, is a leader in multifamily construction in NYC and they are looking for a MEP Superintendent to oversee the on-site coordination and installation of Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems. This role focuses on bridging the gap between design and field execution, ensuring subcontractors meet project schedules, safety standards, and technical specifications.

Responsibilities

• Supervise multiple teams of mechanics and apprentices in all phases of MEP installations.
• Perform and witness essential testing, such as hydrostatic tests on plumbing systems and testing of domestic water, waste, and gas lines.
• Manage project mobilization by ensuring field teams have the necessary materials and equipment to begin work.
• Read and interpret mechanical and structural blueprints to plan repairs, modifications, and new installations.
• Inspect installations to ensure they align with national and local codes, as well as specific project specifications.
• Coordinate with general contractors and project officers to schedule inspections with authorities and controlled inspection companies.

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of hands-on experience in MEP construction or a supervisory field role.
• Experience with ground-up residential required
• Strong understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical components, including steam distribution and drainage systems.
• Familiarity with OSHA safety standards and NYC building department requirements.
