Critical Facilities Technician – Data Center
- Northern, VA
- Up to $45/hr (DOE) OT Shift Differential
- 12-hour shifts (Rotating initially with access to preferred shift after training period)
Overview
We are seeking a Critical Facilities Technician to support operations within a mission-critical data center environment. This role is responsible for maintaining uptime and reliability of electrical and mechanical infrastructure including power distribution, cooling systems, and backup generation.
This is a hands-on position ideal for candidates with experience in data centers, industrial maintenance, or commercial facilities engineering.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor, and maintain critical infrastructure systems including UPS, generators, switchgear, and power distribution equipment
- Perform preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance on HVAC systems (CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, cooling towers)
- Monitor and respond to alarms through BMS/EPMS systems
- Execute work in accordance with MOPs, SOPs, and EOPs
- Troubleshoot electrical and mechanical issues to minimize downtime
- Conduct routine inspections, rounds, and equipment readings
Qualifications
- Experience in a data center, critical facilities, industrial maintenance, or commercial building environment
- Strong knowledge & experience in hands on maintenance of electrical systems (3-phase power, switchgear, generators) and/or mechanical systems (HVAC, chilled water systems)
- Familiarity with BMS/EPMS or similar monitoring systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and one-lines
- Comfortable working in a 24/7 shift environment
