Duties
- Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing, to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
- Conduct patient assessments by taking vital signs, medical history reviews, and evaluating oral health status.
- Assist with chairside procedures such as applying fluoride treatments, sealants, and assisting during dental restorations.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety.
- Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using electronic health records (EHR) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions to promote lifelong dental health.
- Follow infection prevention protocols, including aseptic technique and sterilization of dental equipment, to ensure safety for patients and staff.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations by maintaining strict confidentiality of patient information at all times.
Requirements
- Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current certification to practice.
- Proven experience in general dentistry; pediatric dentistry experience is a plus.
- Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix for managing medical records and documentation review.
- Knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, medical coding, and medical terminology relevant to dental care.
- Skilled in chairside assisting techniques, including four-handed dentistry for efficiency and comfort.
- Strong understanding of healthcare infection prevention and control standards, including infection control management.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures safely while adhering to radiation safety guidelines.
- Excellent communication skills for patient education and team collaboration.
- Familiarity with EMR systems, electronic health records management, and documentation review processes.
