Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The campus nurse oversees all campus health policies and programs. It is up to the campus nurse to provide expertise and oversight of campus health services and to promote health education.
The campus nurse needs to be able to use clinical knowledge and judgment to perform the following duties but not limited to:
- Provide healthcare to students and staff
- Perform health screenings-vision, hearing, scoliosis, and BMI.
- Coordinate referrals to private healthcare providers
- Serve as liaisons between school personnel, family and community healthcare provided to ensure a healthy school environment
- Maintain confidentiality
- Developing plans for student care
- Serve as a consultant with other school professionals, such as food service personnel, physical education teachers, coaches, and counselors
- Providing health-related education to students and staff in both individual and group settings
- Monitoring immunizations and managing communicable diseases
- Overseeing infection control measures
- Overseeing medication administration, health care procedures, and development of care plans
- Providing health advice to school education teams
- Providing first aid and student care
- Assuming responsibility for appropriate assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation, management, and referral activities for students in the school district
- Function in accordance with the Arkansas Nurse Practice Act, Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the School District’s Policies and procedures
Qualifications:
- Current Arkansas license for LPN or RN, RN preferred
- Current CPR and First Aid Certification, CPR Instructor preferred
- Must be able to pass a non-criminal background check and DHS background check
