Responsibilities
- Prepare treatment rooms with the necessary instruments and materials to ensure efficient dental procedures.
- Assist dentists during various treatments by providing chairside support with dental instruments, suctioning, and patient comfort measures.
- Take and develop X-ray images while adhering to strict infection control and aseptic techniques.
- Manage patient records accurately using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as ACE and Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times.
- Gather vital signs and medical history information from patients to support comprehensive care planning.
- Educate patients on oral health practices, post-treatment care, and preventive measures tailored to pediatric or adult patients.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment following infection control protocols and OSHA standards.
- Support administrative tasks including scheduling appointments, managing medical documentation, and coordinating with the dental reception team.
- Operate advanced technology such as 3D scanners and medical imaging equipment to assist in diagnosis and treatment planning.
- Uphold confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA regulations while managing medical records and coding procedures for billing purposes.
Experience (preferred)
- Proven experience working as a Dental Assistant in a busy dental clinic setting with familiarity in general dentistry or pediatric dentistry preferred.
- Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix Eaglesoft or ACE
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Skilled in chairside assisting including four-handed dentistry techniques for efficiency during procedures.
- Experience taking X-rays (including digital radiography) and operating medical imaging equipment like 3D scanners.
- Familiarity with medical documentation, coding (such as CDT codes), and maintaining accurate medical records within HIPAA guidelines.
- Ability to communicate effectively with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics, ensuring comfort and understanding throughout treatment processes.
- Knowledge of specialized fields such as prosthodontics or endodontics is advantageous but not required; enthusiasm for learning new skills is essential.
