What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry-Level Behavior Therapist position at Gentle Grove Autism Services?
Entry-Level Behavior Therapist (RBT/ABA)
Part-Time | $28/hour | Performance-Based Growth | Structured Clinical Support
About This Role
Do you have experience working with children — as a teacher, paraprofessional, nanny, daycare provider, camp counselor, coach, or in another child-focused role — and are looking for a meaningful next step in your career?
We are hiring an individual willing to become a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT). If you’re new to the field of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), that’s okay — we provide structured training and strong clinical support to help you learn.
In this role, you will work 1:1 with children to help them build communication, social, and daily living skills. You will be supported by a supervising clinician (Board Certified Behavior Analyst) who provides consistent guidance, modeling, and feedback until you feel confident and competent.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who:
- Loves working with children
- Values structure and clear expectations
- Wants to see measurable growth and progress
- Is open to learning a science-based approach to behavior and skill development
What You’ll Be Doing
- Work one-on-one with children in their home or community setting
- Follow structured skill-building/behavior plans created by your supervising clinician
- Teach communication, social, play, and independence skills
- Support positive behavior development using ABA strategies
- Take accurate notes daily on the events of your session
- Communicate professionally with families and your supervisor
- Participate in weekly supervision and apply feedback
You are never expected to “figure it out alone.” Our model emphasizes strong supervision and direct communication so you always know what to do and why you’re doing it.
Our Support Model
We intentionally structured our company to prevent burnout and confusion:
- Small team (single-supervisor department)
- Direct communication between you and your supervisor only
- Clear expectations and instructions
- High-value supervision and hands-on training until you feel confident
- Emphasis on measurable client progress
We believe job satisfaction is rooted in client growth — and from feeling competent in your work.
Hours & Scheduling
- 10–15 hours per week per client
- Up to 2 clients
- Client schedules are based on family availability
- You will receive the child’s schedule, age, and basic-leaner profile before accepting a case
- Minimum 6-month commitment requested once you accept a client
We offer flexibility in volume of hours and a generous time-off request process.
Compensation
- $28 per hour starting wage
- Annual performance-based pay increases
- Company-required additional trainings: $15/hour
- Late-converted appointments (after 24 hours): $15/hour
- Mileage reimbursement: $0.25 per mile (Calculated after the first 30 minutes of travel from your home to the client location)
Please note:
- Time spent completing necessary activities to maintain certification (initial certification, annual competency assessments, continuing education credits) are unpaid.
Ideal Candidate
This role is a great fit for someone who:
- Has experience working with children
- Receives and applies feedback well
- Communicates clearly and professionally
- Demonstrates emotional regulation and patience
- Is dependable and organized
- Maintains a growth-oriented, solution-focused mindset
- Wants to build a meaningful career supporting children

- High School Diploma
- Experience working with children (school, childcare, camp, nannying, etc.)
- Strong communication and time management skills
- Willingness to complete RBT certification (we guide you through this process)
- Ability to commit consistently to scheduled clients
If you are seeking a small company environment with high standards, collaborative supervision, and a focus on meaningful client progress, we encourage you to apply.
