What you’ll do
- Assist dentists during examinations and procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques
- Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment while adhering to infection control protocols
- Take and develop dental X-rays, ensuring compliance with safety standards
- Maintain accurate medical records and documentation in electronic medical record (EMR) systems
- Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care
- Manage appointment scheduling and act as a dental receptionist when needed
- Monitor vital signs and assist with medical imaging as required
- Support pediatric dentistry procedures with care tailored to younger patients
Basic qualifications
- Proficiency in dental terminology and anatomy knowledge
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft
- Understanding of HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality
Preferred qualifications
- Experience in chairside assisting within general dentistry, prosthodontics, or endodontics
- Knowledge of medical coding and documentation practices
- Previous experience in a dental clinic setting, particularly with pediatric patients
- Skills in using advanced technology like 3D scanners
