We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Nursing Assistant to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will provide essential support to patients in various settings, including hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and home care environments. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care and the ability to work effectively with individuals of all ages, including those with developmental disabilities and chronic conditions.
Duties
- Assist patients with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and eating.
- Monitor and record vital signs, including blood pressure, temperature, and pulse.
- Provide emotional support and companionship to patients.
- Help with mobility assistance using equipment such as Hoyer lifts.
- Administer medications as prescribed and ensure proper documentation in EMR/EHR systems.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in patient areas while adhering to infection control protocols.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Support patients with specialized needs, including Alzheimer's care, dementia care, and hospice care.
- Engage in basic life support procedures when necessary.
- Document patient progress and report any changes in condition to nursing staff.
Qualifications
- Previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred; critical care experience is a plus.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, anatomy knowledge, and physiology knowledge is essential.
- Experience using electronic medical records (EMR) systems such as Epic or Cerner is beneficial.
- Knowledge of basic caregiving skills including catheter care, phlebotomy, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring.
- Experience working in various settings such as long-term care facilities, hospitals (including Level I & II trauma centers), urgent care clinics, or outpatient services is desirable.
- Ability to work effectively with individuals with developmental disabilities or chronic illnesses.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a healthcare team.
