POSITION OVERVIEW
The Security Specialist will be responsible for maintaining, planning, coordinating and responding to all activities related to the physical safety and security of Gentex assets, employees, visitors and others. The hours would be a split shift, from 10a to 6p.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Enforce emergency management and life safety policies, procedures and programs that address all key issues and concerns for compliance with company, insurance and government requirements or regulations.
- Assist with the operation of fire and security alarm systems, including alarm response and all relevant activities, inspections, maintenance, etc.
- Assist with the operation of multi-facility card access system, including all relevant activities, maintenance, etc.
- Respond to suspicious activity, write incident reports, liaise with law enforcement and security personnel and follow-up on and investigate security incidents as necessary.
- Investigate security and/or safety related incidents using technology, video surveillance, card access system.
- Assist with and participates in cross-functional emergency response management and contingency planning address life safety needs during a crisis.
- Assist with the operation of fire protection systems and equipment, including sprinkler system impairments and all relevant activities, inspections, maintenance, etc.
- Coordinate relevant security, emergency management and life safety training.
- Assist internal customers with life safety or security related issues\concerns.
- Other duties as assigned.
HOW YOU’LL DO IT
- Maintain expertise on current security and life safety issues through literature and attendance at relevant seminars and meetings.
- Assume leadership responder role during medical emergencies.
- Assume the Incident Commander role during emergencies.
- Assist the Security Manager as needed.
- Complying with all Company policies and procedures, safety regulations, company safety policies and safely perform all duties, including but not limited to, promoting a safe workplace.
- Maintaining high level of honesty, integrity and confidentiality with respect to company matters.
WHAT TO BRING
- 5 plus years of active law enforcement or experience or active duty military in a law enforcement role.
- 2-3 years’ experience working with life safety equipment.
- 4-year degree and basic PC skills preferred.
- Secondary language preferred but not required.
- Medical First Responder (MFR) certification preferred but not required.
WHAT WILL HELP

- Ability to work independent of others.
- Must have good communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels of the organization.
