JOB SUMMARY:

A Fire Alarm Installer is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm systems in various settings, including homes, businesses, and public buildings. The position involves reading and interpreting blueprints and electrical diagrams, ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations and codes, and educating clients about their systems.


Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • None.

 

Essential Job Functions:

  • Installs, services, and repairs fire alarm systems in accordance with industry standards and local building codes.
  • Pulls wire runs, installs conduit, terminates devices.
  • Organizes delivery of material and maintains job site cleanliness.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints, diagrams, submittals, and specifications related to fire alarm systems.
  • Programs and tests fire alarm control panels and devices following installation.
  • Inspects and tests fire alarm systems to ensure they are working correctly and meet local fire safety and building codes.
  • Troubleshoots system and hardware issues and makes necessary repairs.
  • Coordinates with other construction or engineering professionals to integrate fire alarm systems into building plans.
  • Conducts customer training on the proper use of fire alarm systems.
  • Maintains records of installation, inspection, and maintenance activities.
  • Stay updated with the latest fire safety regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Adhere to safety and quality standards during installations and repairs.
  • Complies with all safety regulations and procedures. Wears PPE when required.
  • Transports materials, tools, and equipment to the work area as needed.
  • Maintains and organizes tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition.
  • Reports any issues or incidents promptly.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of local building codes and fire safety regulations.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, standards, and procedures.
  • Proficient in using electrical and manual equipment and tools.

  • Physical ability to carry and handle heavy materials and tools.
  • Exercises care and use of the property and equipment.
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. 
  • Ability to build relationships and interact positively with clients, customers, management, and staff. 
  • Ability to identify issues, address them and provide effective solutions. 
  • Skills and ability to handle multiple tasks at once. 
  • Ability to maintain compliant with local, state, and federal regulations. 
  • Ability to adapt to changes and handle them with professionalism. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of conversations, data records, files, and other vital information. 
  • Careful planning, multitasking, excellent time management and customer service skills are critical. 


Education & Certifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid driver license and a clean driving record.
  • Possession of relevant licenses and certifications, as required by local or state regulations.


 Experience:

  • Minimum two years previous experience in fire alarm installation, electrical installation, or a similar role.


 Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to climb ladders, stand for prolong periods, use power tools, and lift up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to differentiate colors for wiring.
  • Work may be performed outside in high/low temperature.

Salary : $25 - $36
