What are the responsibilities and job description for the System Engineer position at Genrobot.AI?
About the Role
This role is centered on our proprietary data collection hardware systems and associated software/algorithms. You will be the primary point of contact for customer-facing technical issues, on-site system implementation, and field troubleshooting — working closely with our APAC-based R&D team to diagnose and resolve issues. This role focuses on deployment, integration, troubleshooting, and ensuring our systems run reliably in real-world customer environments.
Job Responsibilities:
System Implementation & Delivery
- Lead end-to-end on-site implementation of GenRobot's data collection hardware and software systems for North American customers — covering requirement alignment, solution scoping, deployment, commissioning (installation, configuration, parameter tuning, testing), and go-live acceptance.
- Ensure on-time, high-quality delivery in compliance with local technical standards and North American business practices.
Technical Support & System Stability
- Serve as the primary technical contact for North American customers and project teams, ensuring system stability and availability post-deployment.
- Perform hands-on troubleshooting using basic tools (e.g., multimeter, assembly/hand tools) to diagnose and resolve hardware and software issues in the field.
Cross-Functional & Cross-Border Collaboration
- Coordinate closely with GenRobot's APAC-based R&D, Product, and engineering teams to escalate, analyze, and resolve technical issues that cannot be solved on-site.
- Work with Sales, Product, and overseas partners to surface technical pain points, translate them into clear requirements, and help shape feasible technical solutions.
- Accurately capture and document customer requirements and feedback, and relay them to internal teams to support product and process improvements.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or above in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Software Engineering, or a related technical field.
- 3 years of hands-on experience in system integration, bring-up, debugging, validation, and troubleshooting of hardware software systems.
- Demonstrated experience engaging directly with customers and/or overseas teams — able to accurately capture requirements, communicate technical proposals clearly, and coordinate across time zones and cultures.
- Strong problem-solving ability, pressure tolerance, and sense of ownership; rigorous and detail-oriented in execution.
- Able to independently drive a project implementation from kickoff through go-live, with basic project management/coordination skills.
- Comfortable with on-site, hands-on work using basic hardware tools (multimeter, assembly tools, etc.).
Strong Plus
- Experience delivering image-processing solutions, or familiarity with sensor calibration and related perception algorithms.
- Background in roles such as Hardware R&D Engineer, Robotics Engineer, Software Test Engineer, or Embedded Firmware Engineer, with direct customer-facing or field-support experience.
Nice to Have
- Working knowledge of Python.
- Familiarity with SLAM concepts.
- Basic understanding of ML/AI model fundamentals.
- Exposure to Docker and cloud services (AWS/Azure or similar).
- Familiarity with ROS and sensor calibration workflows.
