Weekly Gross Pay: $3,019.00
Weekly Taxable Pay: $1,612.00

Genie Healthcare is currently seeking an experienced RN – MED SURG. to fill an opening in West Des Moines, IA for $62.89/hr. (Taxed nontaxed)
Requirements of the RN MED SURG:
● Must have a valid state IA License or Compact license.
● Must have AHA BLS.
● Must have 2 years of RN MED SURG.

Responsibilities of the RN MED SURG.:
- Shift: 12-hours Nights
- 48 hours/week. (4*12)
- 13-week assignment
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and detailed medical histories to inform appropriate care plans.
- Administer medications, injections, and IV infusions accurately while adhering to aseptic techniques and safety protocols.
- Manage complex cases involving acute pain, trauma, infectious diseases, or chronic conditions such as geriatrics or developmental disabilities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized treatment plans aligned with best practices and regulatory standards.
- Utilize electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Cerner, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks for documentation and medical records management.
- Conduct diagnostic evaluations including laboratory specimen collection/processing, imaging procedures like sonography or mammography when applicable.
- Provide patient education on disease management, medication administration, and health coaching tailored to diverse populations including pediatrics and seniors.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and infection control standards while maintaining a safe environment for patients and staff.
Skills
- Extensive experience in medical-surgical nursing with additional expertise in critical care, emergency medicine, ICU, or trauma medicine environments.
- Proficiency in EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth for accurate documentation and case management.
- Knowledge of advanced procedures including catheterization (cardiac or urinary), suturing, ostomy care, ventilator management, and tube feeding.
- Familiarity with specialized treatments such as botulinum toxin therapy or esthetic laser treatments is a plus.
- Strong clinical judgment in acute pain management, triage processes, and working with individuals with disabilities or memory care needs.
- Ability to perform comprehensive physical examinations and diagnostic evaluations utilizing anatomy knowledge and physiology principles.
- Skilled in medication administration techniques including venipuncture, IV insertion, injection administration, and catheter care.
- Experience working across various healthcare settings such as hospitals (Level I & II trauma centers), outpatient clinics, home & community care environments, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or hospice settings.
- Demonstrated understanding of Workers' Compensation law alongside familiarity with ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10) for accurate documentation.
- Capable of managing complex cases involving infectious disease care or post-acute recovery planning within NCQA standards compliance.
