Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to serve within correctional facilities, providing essential healthcare services to a diverse inmate population. The ideal candidate will possess a strong foundation in nursing practices, with experience in acute and chronic care settings, and a commitment to delivering high-quality patient care in a secure environment. As an LPN in corrections, you will be responsible for assessing patient needs, administering medications, and coordinating care plans while maintaining strict adherence to confidentiality and safety protocols.
Duties
- Conduct comprehensive physical examinations and health assessments of inmates, documenting findings accurately within electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Administer medications, including injections and IV infusions, following established protocols and ensuring proper documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Monitor vital signs, manage acute pain, and provide first aid or emergency interventions as needed within the correctional setting.
- Collaborate with healthcare team members to develop individualized care plans, including discharge planning and long-term care strategies.
- Maintain clinical confidentiality policies while communicating effectively with patients and staff regarding treatment plans and health education.
- Ensure infection control practices are rigorously followed to prevent disease transmission within the facility.
- Support patients with complex needs such as dementia or developmental disabilities by applying specialized care techniques like memory care or Alzheimer's care.
Qualifications
- Valid licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) with current state certification.
- Prior experience working in correctional facilities or similar secure environments is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication skills coupled with the ability to work effectively under pressure in high-stakes environments.
