Duties
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients by understanding their supply chain needs and providing tailored logistics solutions
- Manage transportation operations including freight forwarding, carrier negotiations, dispatching, and transportation planning to ensure timely deliveries
- Utilize transportation management systems (TMS), EDI (Electronic Data Interchange), and CRM software to track shipments, update data entry records, and streamline communication
- Coordinate freight movements across multiple modes of transportation while ensuring compliance with FDA regulations and other industry standards
- Lead lead generation efforts through inside sales activities such as prospecting new clients, qualifying leads, and converting opportunities into long-term accounts
- Oversee logistics sales initiatives by presenting solutions that align with client goals, managing B2B sales processes, and closing deals effectively
- Conduct regular analysis of supply chain performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions
- Collaborate with internal teams on logistics dispatching, carrier sales, pricing strategies, and contract negotiations to maximize operational efficiency
- Lead day-to-day transportation and warehouse operations
- Hire, onboard, train, and manage drivers in partnership with our recruiting team
- Work closely with lead drivers to ensure consistent training, performance, and accountability
- Oversee dispatching, routing, and scheduling to meet customer demand and service expectations
- Collaborate with customers and internal leadership to ensure smooth, reliable operations
- Support fleet maintenance planning alongside the fleet manager to ensure equipment readiness
- Monitor safety, compliance, and DOT requirements
- Analyze performance metrics and identify opportunities for efficiency and improvement
- Provide after-hours and weekend support as needed to ensure operational continuity
Experience
- Proven experience in supply chain management or transportation management within a logistics or freight forwarding environment
- Strong background in account management with a focus on logistics sales or logistics solutions development
- Familiarity with transportation management systems (TMS), CRM software, EDI platforms, and AS400 systems for data entry and dispatching purposes
- Knowledge of 3PL services, NVOCC operations, freight forwarding processes, and carrier relationships
- Demonstrated ability to negotiate contracts effectively while maintaining positive client relationships
- Experience working within regulated environments such as FDA compliance is a plus
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced setting
