Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Contract Phlebotomist to provide specimen collection services on an as-needed basis for Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity (NIPP) testing. This is a 1099 independent contractor opportunity for a phlebotomist who operates their own business and is looking to supplement their existing workload.
Assignments are scheduled as needed and may require travel to homes, medical offices, hospitals, or other approved collection locations.
Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture for Non-Invasive Prenatal Paternity (NIPP) testing according to laboratory protocols.
- Verify patient identification before specimen collection.
- Accurately label, package, and prepare specimens for shipment.
- Complete all required collection documentation.
- Maintain specimen integrity and follow chain-of-custody procedures when applicable.
- Provide professional, compassionate, and courteous patient care during every appointment.
- Communicate appointment completion and any collection concerns promptly.
Qualifications
- Current Phlebotomy Certification required.
- Minimum one (1) year of recent venipuncture experience preferred.
- Experience with difficult blood draws is strongly preferred.
- Current CPR/BLS Certification preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow laboratory collection protocols.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Independent Contractor Requirements
- Must operate as an independent contractor (1099).
- Must have an active business and perform collections independently.
- Maintain professional liability insurance (preferred or required, if applicable).
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Willingness to travel to scheduled collection appointments.
- Ability to supply basic collection equipment if required.
Compensation
- Paid per completed collection.
- Flexible scheduling based on appointment availability.
- Mileage reimbursement (if applicable).
