The Advisor, Joint Venture Accounting is responsible for managing and supporting the financial and accounting activities related to the client’s joint venture arrangements. This role serves as a key point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cash management, and strong partner relationships. The position plays a critical role in optimizing joint venture performance, maintaining compliance with financial agreements, and delivering actionable insights to support business decisions.

The Advisor, Joint Venture Accounting is responsible for managing and supporting the financial and accounting activities related to the client’s joint venture arrangements. This role serves as a key point of contact for both internal and external stakeholders, ensuring accurate financial reporting, effective cash management, and strong partner relationships. The position plays a critical role in optimizing joint venture performance, maintaining compliance with financial agreements, and delivering actionable insights to support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and review monthly financial statements and supporting schedules for internal management and joint venture partners
- Prepare, review, and approve monthly journal entries, including joint venture billings
- Conduct research and analysis to address ad hoc partner inquiries and requests
- Collaborate with internal teams including Business Development, Treasury, and Financial Reporting
- Develop and manage annual budgets for internal purposes and individual joint ventures
- Coordinate cash calls and distributions with partners, ensuring accurate and timely execution
- Prepare and review quarterly and annual regulatory filings, including FERC Form 3 and Form 2 reports
- Perform account reconciliations and analyze monthly variances between actuals and budgets
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors during quarterly and year-end audits
- Ensure compliance with SOX controls and applicable reporting requirements
- Provide guidance and mentorship to junior analysts as needed
- Support special projects and process improvement initiatives
- Engage with cross-functional teams such as Regulatory, Legal, Tax, Treasury, and Investor Relations to support financial and operational objectives
- Maintain strong relationships with joint venture partners, acting as the primary accounting point of contact
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior leadership, auditors, and joint venture stakeholders to resolve financial and operational issues
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant accounting or finance experience
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, budgeting, and joint venture accounting principles
- Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the organization
- Excellent organizational, planning, and analytical skills
- Experience working with auditors and regulatory reporting is an asset
- CPA designation preferred but not required
