Position Description – Union Manufacturing Associate - Millwright 1529 Membership Required

You will work from patterns and blueprints, using a variety of tools and machines to make metal parts or assemble components. You will work in a manufacturing assembly environment.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

• Reports directly to the shop foreman over the production area
• Conducts activities in a safe and healthy manner and works in accordance with established HS&E requirements to ensure the protection of employees, the public, and the environment.
• Responsible for good housekeeping, organizing, and cleaning.
• Follow verbal and written instructions.
• Be able to recognize worn out and unsafe machines and tools.
• Read blueprints and schematic drawings to determine work procedures.
• Verifies conformance of workpiece to specifications, using square, ruler, and measuring.
• Positions, aligns, fits, and welds together parts, using jigs, welding torch, and hand tools.
• Sets up and operates misc. hand and mobile tools associated with fabricating shops as needed.
• Moves machinery, materials, and equipment, using hoists, dollies, rollers, and trucks.
• Work within standards of accuracy.
• Use logical step-by-step procedures in work.
• Make decisions based on measurable information and experience.
• Climb and maintain body balance on ladders, scaffolding, or high structures; and see and hear well (either naturally or with correction);
• Lift and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
• Stoop, lay, bend or squat for long periods of time.
