Payroll Specialist - Hybrid

Genesis10 is currently seeking a Payroll Specialist - Hybrid for a direct hire position with a Major Financial Services Company located in Minnetonka, MN.

Compensation: $26.00 - 33.00 per hour, W2.

Position Overview:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. This role ensures payroll data integrity, resolves discrepancies, supports audits, and partners closely with HR, Finance, and employees to address payroll-related inquiries within a large, multi-state corporate environment. The position will manage payroll processing within UKG and Workday systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process accurate and timely bi-weekly, off-cycle, special, and manual payrolls for salaried, hourly, commission, and bonus employees
• Audit and validate payroll data, including timecards, new hires, terminations, pay changes, leave activity, benefits deductions, and retroactive adjustments
• Reconcile payroll registers, reports, general ledger entries, bank/treasury logs, and payroll records to ensure accuracy and compliance
• Maintain payroll records, including earnings, deductions, taxes, garnishments, benefits, and timekeeping data
• Manage payroll processing within UKG and Workday, including time tracking, absence management, and payroll-related system updates
• Prepare payroll reports, statements, and supporting documentation for internal stakeholders and audits
• Administer garnishments, levies, child support orders, payroll taxes, and year-end processing (W-2s)
• Partner with HR, Benefits, Finance, and Accounting to resolve payroll issues and support employee inquiries
• Support payroll audits, process improvements, system enhancements, and cross-functional team initiatives
• Maintain confidentiality, meet payroll deadlines, and perform other duties as assigned

Primary Requirements:

• 2-3 years of payroll experience, preferably in a large corporate, multi-state environment
• Experience processing full-cycle, multi-state payroll using an enterprise payroll platform
• Working knowledge of Workday or similar HRIS systems
• Intermediate to advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, functions, and pivot tables
• Strong understanding of payroll laws, wage and hour regulations, payroll taxes, and compliance requirements
• Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with strong attention to detail
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer-service mindset
• Self-motivated, dependable, collaborative, and able to exercise sound judgment while maintaining confidentiality

Desired Skills:

• UKG experience
• Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) or working toward certification
• Payroll implementation experience
