Solid Waste Collector

Genesis Industrial is currently looking for Helpers to work with our client in Silsbee, TX, that works in the environmental/waste industry. The Residential Helper teams with the Driver and assists in the collection of waste and/or recyclable material. This is full time work paying $16/hr.

Responsibilities
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.

• Immediately reports all unsafe situations or service-related issues to Route Manager or Dispatch.
• Attends and participates in all scheduled training programs, briefings, and meetings as required or directed by the Supervisor.
• Manually or mechanically load and empty residential and/or commercial containers into truck.
• Containers may be staged curbside, dockside, carryout, or require pullout to complete service.
• Operates hoisting device to lift and empty bins or containers into truck hopper.
• Assist driver with all backing maneuvers while on route.
• Notifies the Supervisor/Dispatch of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
• Notifies Supervisor or Dispatch of service interruptions including closed or impassable streets or alleyways, receptacles too heavy to service or potential safety hazards.
• Communicate with the driver on each route
• Navigate through traffic and busy intersections

Experience:
Six (6) months of prior work experience required.

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

• Required to use motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity.
• Required to exert physical effort in handling objects more than 50 pounds frequently.
• Requires pushing, pulling, bending, twisting and lifting up to 50 lbs.
• Will be exposed to a physical environment, which involves dirt, odors, noise, weather extremes or similar elements most of the workday.
• Vision: adequate to enter and read material on computer screens during training. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions.
• Hearing: Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals.
• Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification.
• Equipment Operation: Able to operate a wide range of tools
• Squatting/Kneeling: able to squat or kneel
• Standing: able to stand for extended periods of time delivering information.
• Walking: Able to walk through the shop and other outside elements, must be able to walk down street and dirt paths on route.
