Genesis is seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Engineer to provide technical leadership, engineering oversight, and design coordination for energy infrastructure, utility, industrial, and power delivery projects.

The Lead Mechanical Engineer will oversee mechanical engineering activities, coordinate multidisciplinary design teams, review engineering calculations and technical deliverables, and ensure designs meet applicable codes, client specifications, safety requirements, quality standards, and project schedules.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrated experience in mechanical systems, equipment selection, piping design, HVAC systems, fluid systems, or other mechanical infrastructure relevant to the assigned projects. This individual will collaborate with electrical, civil, structural, instrumentation and controls, procurement, project management, and construction teams to deliver reliable, cost-effective, and constructible engineering solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Mechanical Engineering and Design

• Lead mechanical engineering design activities for utility, energy, industrial, and infrastructure projects.
• Develop and review mechanical design calculations, technical specifications, equipment layouts, and engineering drawings.
• Oversee mechanical equipment selection, sizing, and specification development based on project requirements.
• Review mechanical systems, piping arrangements, equipment supports, and associated installation requirements.
• Coordinate HVAC, ventilation, heating, cooling, and building mechanical systems where applicable.
• Evaluate system performance, operating requirements, maintainability, reliability, and equipment accessibility.
• Review vendor drawings, equipment data sheets, technical submittals, and manufacturer documentation.
• Identify design conflicts, technical risks, and constructability issues and recommend practical solutions.

Engineering Coordination

• Coordinate mechanical design interfaces with electrical, civil, structural, instrumentation and controls, and other engineering disciplines.
• Work with project managers, designers, construction managers, vendors, and clients to establish technical requirements and resolve engineering issues.
• Review engineering packages for technical accuracy, completeness, consistency, and compliance with project specifications.
• Support equipment procurement, vendor technical evaluations, material selection, and technical bid reviews.
• Ensure mechanical designs are integrated with facility layouts, foundations, utilities, piping systems, and equipment installation requirements.
• Participate in design reviews, coordination meetings, technical workshops, and project planning sessions.

Technical Leadership and Project Delivery

• Provide technical direction and mentorship to mechanical engineers, designers, and drafting personnel.
• Assign engineering tasks, establish priorities, and monitor deliverables against project milestones.
• Oversee calculations, design documentation, specifications, and technical reports.
• Support project estimates, engineering scope development, resource planning, and schedule management.
• Identify opportunities to improve engineering efficiency, reduce rework, and optimize project costs.
• Maintain engineering quality assurance, document control, and revision management procedures.

Construction and Commissioning Support

• Provide technical support during equipment installation, construction, testing, and commissioning.
• Respond to requests for information (RFIs) and review field changes affecting mechanical design.
• Conduct site visits and field assessments as required.
• Review equipment installation requirements, construction submittals, and contractor questions.
• Support troubleshooting, equipment performance evaluations, and resolution of mechanical system deficiencies.
• Prepare or review as-built documentation and final engineering deliverables.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• Demonstrated skilled experience with mechanical design, equipment specifications, calculations, and engineering documentation.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, equipment data sheets, and applicable industry codes.
• Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to manage multiple deliverables and coordinate with engineering, procurement, and construction teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license where applicable.
• Experience with energy infrastructure, power generation, utilities, substations, industrial facilities, or heavy construction.
• Experience with mechanical equipment, piping systems, HVAC, fluid systems, or plant utilities, depending on project scope.
• Familiarity with ASME, ASHRAE, API, NFPA, or other applicable industry standards.
• Experience with AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, Plant 3D, or discipline-specific mechanical design and analysis software.
• Experience with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects or design-build delivery.
• Experience reviewing vendor packages, supporting equipment procurement, and resolving field engineering issues.
• Proven ability to lead technical teams and deliver engineering packages within project schedules and budgets.
