The Social Media & Marketing Intern will support the organization's outreach and donor engagement efforts by helping create thoughtful, mission-aligned content across our digital platforms.
This internship is ideal for a student or early-career professional interested in nonprofit communications, storytelling, social media strategy, or fundraising.
Key ResponsibilitiesSocial Media Content & Management
- Create mission-aligned content for Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn (graphics, captions, stories, reels, short-form updates).
- Maintain a weekly posting schedule that aligns with organizational communication priorities.
- Develop educational and donor-focused posts that uphold the dignity of the children we serve.
- Track engagement trends and recommend improvements.
Marketing & Communications Support
- Draft copy for campaigns, events, and public updates.
- Collect stories, data points, and program updates from staff to support communications.
- Help maintain consistency in brand voice, colors, and messaging.
Photography / Visual Asset Management
- Capture campus-appropriate photos and short videos while maintaining resident privacy.
- Organize and label image libraries for future use.
- Prepare simple graphics or templates in Canva that can be reused by staff.
Fundraising & Event Support
- Assist with promotional materials for fundraising campaigns and special events.
- Support donor-recognition content, thank-you graphics, and event follow-ups.
- Help with on-site photography at events, when appropriate.
Learning Outcomes & Skill Development

Qualifications

- Commitment to upholding confidentiality and dignity when representing the organization.
- Alignment with The Genesis Project mission and values.
Schedule & Supervision
- 10–15 hours per week (flexible).
- Hybrid work available, depending on project needs.
- Reports to the Executive Director or designated Communications/Development staff.
- Must complete all required onboarding and confidentiality agreements.
Pay: $ $16.00 per hour
Expected hours: 10.0 – 15.0 per week
