Position Overview

The Eligibility Specialist acts as the primary point of contact for individuals seeking public assistance and provides guidance through the application process for Medicaid, local indigent programs, and other state, county, and social service programs.

The Eligibility Specialist interviews patients, reviews and verifies application information, identifies and resolves deficiencies, and ensures all eligibility documentation is accurately prepared and submitted in compliance with state and federal regulations. This position works closely with patients, front desk staff, and external agencies to advocate for patient access to care, maintain accurate records, and support timely clinic operations. Through compassionate communication, strong organizational skills, and attention to detail, the Eligibility Specialist helps ensure patients receive appropriate coverage and access to health care services.

Qualifications

Required:

• High School Diploma or GED

Preferred:

• Two years experience in a community health care environment
• Knowledge of state Medicaid Programs & Procedures
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
