Bakery Assistant

Job Summary:
High volume commercial bakery is seeking a Part-Time team-oriented candidate for a Baker’s Assistant position. Candidate must be willing to work weekdays/nights, weekends and/or holidays.

Essential Functions:

• Retard Dough: Manage and monitor doughs during cold fermentation in a refrigerator to control proofing and develop flavor and texture.
• Finishing: Decorate and assemble baked goods, and prepare them for display & sale
• Inventory: Help with inventory management and keeping bread shelves and viennoiserie display case stocked for retail sale.
• Operate baking equipment: Prepare pans and molds, set oven temperatures and monitor the baking process.
• Workstation maintenance: Keep the work area clean, organized and sanitary. This includes cleaning equipment and performing general upkeep during work shift.
• Cleaning: Dishes, work and storage surfaces, ingredient bins, ovens and floors.
• Receiving: unloading and inspecting deliveries from production commissary
• Maintaining organization of product in freezer and fridge
• Working knowledge of knives and other sharp objects.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Sanitation and Safety: Maintain a clean and hygienic work are adhering strictly to all food safety standards.
• Responsibilities and duties as assigned by the General Manager and or Kitchen Manager.

• The employee is frequently required to stand and walk
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include: close vision, distance vision, color vision & focus

• Kitchen environment.
• The noise level in this workplace is usually moderate to high.

Education and Experience:

• Bilingual in Spanish a plus, however, not required
