Medical Receptionist/Administrative Assistant (Full-time)
Monday through Friday 8am-4pm
Description:
Provide comprehensive administrative support to our providers and support staff. Provide high quality customer service to patients. Responsible for covering the reception/front desk and handling day-to-day administrative duties for the provider schedules.
Responsibilities (but are not limited to):
· Welcome/greet visitors in a friendly and warm manner as front desk receptionist
· Obtain patient information necessary for processing medical charges such as driver’s license and health insurance card
· Check patients in and out for visits
· Verify patient demographic information in a confidential manner
· Answer and direct phone calls in a polite and professional manner
· Schedules, confirms, re-schedules and cancels appointments for new and existing patients using the EMR system
· Fields telephone inquiries from patients, potential patients and physician offices.
· Call patients to confirm appointments and/or reschedule appointments
· Collect and record balance, copay and self pay cycle payments
· Operate standard office equipment including fax, credit card, copy machine and scanner
· Ensure required consent forms, new patient packets or other forms are completed by the patients
· Interact with medical and billing staff
· Answer/respond to patient non-clinical inquiries and direct all clinical questions and inquiries (outside the scope of your knowledge and responsibilities) to appropriate clinical staff
· Communicate via email and phone with staff to maintain timely patient flow
· Schedule patient follow-up appointments and inform of associated fees
· Consistently check answering machine for messages and responding to/forwarding same
· Balance daily deposit report with monies collected at the end of each day
Qualifications:
- 1-2 years’ receptionist/administrative experience in the healthcare industry
- High school graduate required; associates degree preferred
- Strong phone skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills
- Good written/verbal skills and attention to accuracy
- Capable of using computerized appointment scheduling systems or electronic medical record (EMR) system
- Ability to multi-task and handle busy front desk while maintaining composure
- Ability to exercise tact in dealing with sensitive, complex and confidential patient issues and situations
- Ability to take direction and prioritize as needed
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $18.00 - $20.00 per hour
