POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Utility Worker / Janitor is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness, safety, and overall appearance of assigned facilities. This role supports daily operations by ensuring all areas are well-maintained, sanitary, and in compliance with company standards and safety regulations.
GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Utility Worker / Janitor will be responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Perform routine cleaning tasks including sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, and dusting
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, break rooms, and common areas
- Empty trash and recycling bins; ensure proper waste disposal
- Restock supplies such as paper products, soap, and cleaning materials
- Maintain floors through stripping, waxing, and buffing as needed
- Clean windows, walls, and other surfaces
- Identify and report maintenance or repair needs
- Follow all safety protocols and OSHA guidelines
- Assist with minor facility maintenance tasks as needed
REQUIREMENTS:
- Previous janitorial or custodial experience preferred but not required
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physically demanding tasks
- Reliable, punctual, and professional demeanor
- Ability to work in both indoor and outdoor environments
- Flexibility to work early mornings, evenings, weekends, or holidays as needed
- Willingness to work with cleaning chemicals and equipment
Physical Requirements:
· Physically able to perform physically demanding duty labor and lift up to 50 pounds and push up to 100 pounds.
· Physically able to walk, stand, lift, reach, bend, kneel, climb, twist, pull, squat, grasp and use arm-hand coordination on a consistent basis.
