Duties and Responsibilities:
- Conduct human-centered design assessments of current notices, identifying usability, readability, accessibility, and client experience challenges.
- Lead stakeholder workshops, design sessions, and user-centered reviews to understand client needs and communication barriers.
- Develop enterprise notice design standards, content frameworks, reusable templates, and communication guidelines.
- Establish plain-language standards, accessibility requirements, language access standards, and client-centered communication practices.
- Redesign notice structures, layouts, content hierarchy, and messaging approaches to improve comprehension and actionability.
- Collaborate with policy, legal, operations, and technical teams to ensure redesigned notices meet regulatory and operational requirements.
- Create reusable content components, reason-language frameworks, and template conventions that support consistency across programs.
- Incorporate accessibility best practices, including Section 508 compliance, multilingual communication considerations, and inclusive design principles.
- Support development of notice-level design specifications and implementation guidance for development teams.
- Contribute to implementation sequencing, governance reviews, and final design handoff documentation.
- 5 years of experience in Human-Centered Design (HCD), User Experience (UX), Service Design, Content Design, or Customer Experience design.
- Experience applying plain-language principles and accessibility standards to complex communications.
- Strong facilitation skills with experience leading stakeholder workshops and collaborative design sessions.
- Experience developing reusable design systems, templates, communication standards, or service design frameworks.
- Ability to translate complex policy and operational requirements into intuitive, user-friendly communications.
- Experience supporting government, healthcare, Medicaid, public assistance, or social services programs.
- Knowledge of Section 508 accessibility standards, language access requirements, and inclusive design practices.
- Experience redesigning eligibility notices, public-facing communications, forms, or client correspondence.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human-Centered Design, User Experience Design, Service Design, Human Factors, Psychology, Communications, Public Health, Public Administration, Design, or a related field. Advanced training or certifications in Human-Centered Design, UX, Accessibility, or Service Design preferred.
