Summary:
The Painter role is primarily focused on grinding, surface preparation, and finishing tasks as well as painting and decal application. This role ensures hydraulic excavator attachments are properly prepped and finished to meet quality standards, blueprint specifications, and customer requirements.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform extensive grinding and blending of weld marks to achieve smooth surfaces prior to painting.
- Prepare parts by taping off machined surfaces and cleaning thoroughly to ensure proper adhesion.
- Operate sandblasting equipment for paint removal and surface cleaning.
- Complete work as directed to meet delivery deadlines.
- Verify part identification and ensure correct components are prepped and painted according to specifications.
- Mix paints or select premixed options to match specified colors; adjust equipment settings for optimal application.
- Apply paint using spray guns and verify coverage with mill thickness gauges.
- Monitor and maintain painting equipment, including cleaning spray guns and replacing worn parts.
- Inspect painted surfaces for quality and apply corrosion inhibitors to machined areas.
- Install covers on attachments using impact and torque tools.
- Handle and dispose of paint, solvents, and other chemicals in compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Assist in moving large components using overhead cranes or forklifts when required.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area daily.
- Document work performed and maintain accurate records for quality control and traceability.
- Follow all safety protocols and attend required meetings and training sessions.
- Undertake other duties as needed and assigned to support team objectives
Skills/Knowledge/Experience/Education Required:
- High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
- Technical training in industrial painting (preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of industrial painting experience (preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, safety rules, and work instructions.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Forklift experience preferred; ability to pass certification test required.
- Flexibility to work any shift.
