TITLE: MATH TEACHER – GENESIS (Grades 7-12)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Connecticut certification in mathematics (required)
- Training in restorative practice (preferred)
- Experience with trauma-based approach to instruction (preferred)
- Experience with Project Based Learning (preferred)
- Strong understanding of differentiated instruction and intervention strategies
- Ability to build strong relationships and maintain high expectations for students
REPORTS TO: Assistant Superintendent, Special Services
JOB GOAL: The math teacher in the Genesis Program provides whole-class and small-group math instruction through project-based learning in a smaller, flexible, and more nurturing environment. This role integrates strong instructional practices with a restorative practice approach, while using transdisciplinary project-based learning (PBL) to promote high levels of student engagement and meaningful learning experiences.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Professional Responsibilities:
- Participate in regular meetings including: staff meetings, Instructional Effectiveness Team (IET) meetings, department and/or grade level meetings, and district meetings
- Provide supervision in activities both in and out of the classroom during the regular school day
- Report to work and follows established work hours/work week
- Engage parents and the community in the learning process through ongoing two-way communication
- Collaborate with other staff (certified and non-certified) to support students; shares knowledge and resources with others
- Partner with others to solve problems faced by students or the school community
- Participate in PPT, 504, and/or other parent meetings
- Model the importance of social responsibility
- Demonstrate the ability to use technology effectively; engages in ongoing professional learning to learn new technological tools
- Plan and deliver differentiated math instruction aligned to grade-level standards
- Co-plan with humanities teacher and STEM teacher to design PBLs aligned to standards
- Adapt curriculum to meet diverse learning needs within a therapeutic program
- Collaborate with special education staff to implement IEP goals and accommodations
- Use data to inform instruction and monitor student progress
- Support students in developing executive functioning and self-regulation skills within math instruction
- Participate in team meetings, PPTs, and ongoing program development
- Co-teach with special education teacher in identified sections
- Co-plan with co-teacher
- Support the overall operation of the program by taking on a variety of responsibilities throughout the day, including coordinating logistics, communicating with families, assisting with student supervision, helping plan and facilitate school events and activities, etc.

- Design and administers assessments to monitor student progress
- Analyze multiple forms of assessment data and adapts instruction accordingly
- Engage with colleagues to reflect on practice and make refinements to instruction, assessment, and lesson design
- Implement district-approved curriculum
- Design innovative curriculum in accordance with district procedures
- Maintain appropriate records of student attendance and progress; prepare report cards, interim and final grades as appropriate
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Teachers regularly engage in talking, hearing, reading, writing, operating technology, sitting, standing, reaching up and down with arms, lifting or moving objects that weigh up to 10 pounds
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 11 month position
EVALUATION: Performance review of this job will be evaluated by the building principal in conjunction with the Wilton Staff Appraisal Plan
