Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations, surgeries, and diagnostic procedures by preparing instruments and maintaining a sterile environment using aseptic techniques.
- Handle animals safely and confidently, utilizing proper restraint techniques for various species including dogs, cats, and equines.
- Perform laboratory tests such as blood work, urinalysis, and other diagnostic procedures to support accurate diagnoses.
- Maintain detailed records of animal treatments, medications, and procedures while ensuring compliance with veterinary terminology and protocols.
- Support pet owners with pet care advice, including grooming, feeding, and basic training tips like dog handling and training.
- Conduct animal husbandry tasks such as feeding, cleaning enclosures, and monitoring animal physiology to ensure optimal health.
- Capture diagnostic images like X-rays while adhering to safety standards; assist with dental procedures involving dental terminology and pet dental care.
Requirements
- Proven kennel experience along with animal handling skills across different species.
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and physiology to effectively support clinical procedures.
- Experience in veterinary critical care settings or laboratory environments is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with equine handling or experience working with large animals is a plus.
- Strong skills in animal catheterization, restraint techniques, and pet grooming are preferred.
- Ability to communicate clearly about veterinary procedures and pet care instructions to clients.
