JOB TITLE: Second Cook – Elementary School (building TBD)
LENGTH OF DAY: 4.5 hrs daily
AVAILABLE:
Must be available for training August 6, 2026
Position begins week of August 17th, 2026- must be available for professional development, start-up meetings and opening kitchen
QUALIFICATIONS: High School diploma or equivalent. Must be ServSafe Certified, and able to obtain ServSafe or ICN Allergens within 15 days
EXPERIENCE: As a Second Cook, Cook- Aide or similar position
SKILLS/TRAITS:
- Ability to maintain the highest level of sanitation and safety for personnel, food preparation and equipment.
- Excellent attendance record is required
- Ability to function as a positive, contributing team member.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information.
- Ability to maintain required department records in an efficient manner.
- Has knowledge of nutritional menu planning including dietary guidelines and meal pattern requirements.
- Ability to communicate in a positive, cheerful manner with students, staff and parents.
- Ability to work independently, exercising good judgment in making decisions.
- Displays an interest in marketing and merchandising to create interest and maintain enthusiasm with the customer base.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:
Attends relevant training classes and workshops.- Adheres to defined standards of sanitation for personnel, and food preparation, and kitchen equipment.
- Adheres to standards of safety for personnel and equipment.
- Participates in the preparation of food within an established production system following standardized recipes, preparation and service methods, and food handling techniques to ensure acceptable standards.
- Follows established procedures for service and distribution of meals. Which may include running a register, or serving food,
- Washes dishes and cleans kitchen equipment as directed
- Maintains required forms and production records as assigned.
- Assumes responsibility as a foodservice employee, follows work assignments, and maintains workstation efficiently.
- Keeps informed of current knowledge of district, departmental, state and federal regulations.
- Ability to step up into Head Cook role as needed
- All other job related duties as assigned.
RATE OF PAY: $18.67/hour
OTHER: Applicants selected for employment must be capable of performing all necessary job functions. In addition, applicants must consent to background investigation according to federal and state laws, and district policy.
