What are the responsibilities and job description for the Instrument Fitter position at GENERON IGS INC?
- Crew Leadership: Supervise, mentor, and schedule internal technicians and third-party contractors.
- System Installation: Layout, cut, bend, and thread stainless steel, copper, and carbon steel tubing for pneumatic and electrical signal lines.
- Blueprint Reading: Interpret complex Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), loop diagrams, control narratives, and schematics.
- Calibration & Testing: Perform loop checks, calibrate instruments (transmitters, transducers, controllers), and pressure-test systems to guarantee zero-leak integrity.
- Safety & Compliance: Conduct daily safety meetings, perform Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), and ensure OSHA and site-specific environmental standards are met.
- Commissioning Support: Assist engineering and integration teams with startup, troubleshooting, and validation of automated processes.
Education & Qualifications
- Experience: Typically 5 years of industrial or construction experience in oil & gas, petrochemical, or power generation.
- Skills: Expert proficiency with hand and power tools, tube benders, and calibration equipment.
- Certifications: NCCER (National Center for Construction Education and Research) Instrumentation credentials or equivalent military/technical training are highly preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in confined spaces, at high elevations, and in varying weather conditions.
- Must be able to perform repetitive hand motions, bending, and twisting.
